Quick answer

Automatic vs Manual — Which One to Rent

Short answer: if you're not already comfortable on a manual bike from home, take an automatic. Long answer below.

Automatic is the normal choice here

Out of our 23 bikes, 21 are automatic. Twist the throttle, go — no clutch, no gears to think about. This is what almost every guest rents, and it's the right call if this is your first time on two wheels in Thailand.

Automatic doesn't mean weak. Our sport and maxi-scooters have real power for hills and long rides, you just don't have to shift for it.

Manual — only if you already know how

We have two manual bikes, the Honda CBR500R and CB650F, both real motorbikes with a clutch and gears. These are for riders who already ride manual back home and miss the feel of it. Koh Phangan roads are narrow in places with sharp corners and steep sections — not the place to learn gears for the first time.

Not sure? Just ask us

If you tell us how much riding experience you have, we'll point you to the right bike. Better to ask before than to find out on a hill in the rain.
